Voice Lessons For Dancers

“Dancers First” often have a unique set of needs (and sometimes some extra TLC, too!) in order to get and stay competitive in auditions. The hard fact is that as fierce as you might be as a dancer, you still have to bring the vocal goods and shine with the right song material, both of which must highlight your greatest attributes. Our work together will:

· -- Build a solid, reliable vocal technique, promote vocal stamina and lay focus on vocal health

· -- Uncover song material and musical cuts that show your bankable assets

· --Give you confidence to be and stay competitive; “getting by,” “holding your own” or “hoping for the best” isn’t an effective strategy

· -- Allow you to become the most formidable version of yourself as a performer

Stephen Purdy holds a Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy and is on Musical Theatre faculty at Westminster Choir College and maintains a robust private studio in Manhattan. He also regularly delivers Master Classes on vocal, song and audition performance at Universities and Arts institutions worldwide. His students have been cast in virtually every major Broadway Musical and touring companies of the last 20 years and are singing on concert stages throughout the United States and abroad. He is the author of the acclaimed book “Musical Theatre Song: A Comprehensive Course” published by Bloomsbury about which opera great Placido Domingo trumpeted: “Dramatic stage singers today are more hard-pressed than ever to deliver original, truthful and personal performances with bravura. Stephen Purdy’s text contains insightful, invaluable wisdom that gives modern stage performers the tools and wherewithal to do this in a way that nurtures their individuality and fosters their artistry.”
