High Steppin’ Country is the longest-running live show on the Grand Strand, performed at Lakewood Camping Resort’s Theater By The Sea — the only outdoor beachfront amphitheater in the Myrtle Beach area.
This high-energy, two-hour variety show features a dynamic young cast performing a wide range of musical styles including classic and contemporary country, gospel, and patriotic medleys. Each season also includes a rotating specialty production section that changes every year. Past sections have highlighted music from the 1980s, Motown, Elvis, Jersey Boys–inspired hits, swing, and other iconic eras and artists.
Founded in 1976 by the late Phillip Perry, High Steppin’ Country has become a beloved Myrtle Beach entertainment tradition and a launching pad for many successful performers. Past cast members have gone on to careers on Broadway, television, and film, including country music star Josh Turner.
Rehearsals typically begin in May, with the show opening in early June and running throughout the summer season. Performances take place every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 8:30 PM.
