DESCRIPTION

Bluey’s Big Play is a theatrical adaptation of the Emmy award-winning children’s television series, as seen on the Disney Channel The play features an original story by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, new music by award-winning Bluey composer Joff Bush and brilliantly crafted life-size puppets and sets.

The show made its global premiere in Brisbane, Australia, where the tour went on to break box office records for children’s entertainment all over the country. Hailed as “a glorious celebration” of everything fans love about the show (The Guardian), it’s Bluey as fans have never seen it before, brought to real life. Since then, the show has toured the world, including a 2-year North American Tour, the UK, Europe and South Africa

Position: Touring Head Carpenter
Contract Dates: June 2, 2026 – 6-month contract with option to extend

Location: U.S. National Tour
Compensation:
$1,400 per week + $60/day per diem
Tour Style: Approx. 40% sleeper bus / 60% hotel accommodations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the load-in and load-out process, including truck loading/unloading, stage setup, and pack-down.
  • Maintain and manage all aspects of the stage, set, and mechanical elements during the production run.
  • Supervise local venue staging crews, manage working hours, and assign breaks in compliance with venue requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments to ensure technical and logistical consistency across venues.


SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong knowledge of stage mechanics, rigging, and production logistics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining production standards.
  • Ability to problem-solve under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience as a Head Carpenter or similar role on theatrical productions.
  • Proficiency in stage mechanics, set assembly, and maintenance.
  • Experience managing logistics and local crew.
  • Knowledge of WHS (Work Health and Safety) standards in a theatrical environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of the working practices of a touring production
