ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER FOR BATED BREATH'S IMMERSIVE DIRTY BOOKS

Bated Breath Theatre Company is seeking a highly organized Assistant Stage Manager to join the team of our immersive production Dirty Books, currently running in the Village, now in our fourth extension.

Created and directed by Mara Lieberman, Dirty Books is an audience-interactive performance exploring the history of censorship. The piece blends performance, installation, and live audience participation, requiring a team that is both detail oriented and deeply engaged with the full experience of the show.

Responsibilities include:

Running box office and audience check-in
House management and audience flow coordination
Prop tracking, preset, and ongoing maintenance
Supporting performers and maintaining backstage organization and show run
Assisting with rehearsal and performance needs as they arise
Helping to uphold the immersive environment throughout the space

We’re looking for someone who:

Is detail oriented, dependable, and self-motivated
Takes ownership of their track and is invested in maintaining the quality and consistency of the show over time
Is open to feedback and able to integrate notes quickly and thoughtfully
Is comfortable interacting with audiences in a live, immersive setting
Thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Communicates clearly and works well within a small team
Has prior stage management experience

Details:

Paid, non-union position
Immediate start
Performances currently Thursdays and Saturdays, with a Monday industry performance on April 13.
