Non-Union actor for the role of Tituba in The Crucible at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT

Tituba: smart, strategic, rooted in a cultural tradition that’s perceived as foreign by Salem’s insular community, the first to be accused of witchcraft due to prejudice; her confession and testimony catalyze the play’s action. Tituba is enslaved by Samuel Parris. Tituba’s history of ethnicity/race is subject of historical discussion—thus seeking actor who identifies with any of the following races/ethnicities: Black, Indigenous, Caribbean, Barbadian.

Local actors only – No housing provided

3-week commitment including rehearsals/tech/performances. Some flexibility with rehearsal dates/times. Pre-tech rehearsals are primarily on weekday evenings, Friday afternoons, and Saturday afternoons. Non-negotiable dates 4/20 – 5/2 for tech and performances. Performance dates 4/30-5/2, 4 performances.

$3,000 stipend

Will be required to go through university checks.
