🎬 CASTING NOTICE – “CARRIE” REIMAGINING (15 MIN SHORT FILM) NYC

Filming Window: January–February 2026 (flexible)

Inspiration: Carrie (1976) × Moonlight

A dark, emotional, queer reinterpretation of Carrie, where “Carrey,” a gay Black boy, becomes the target of homophobia, violence, and a prom-night fight that ends in tragedy.

All roles are unpaid (passion project). All ages may submit as long as you can believably play a high schooler.

✨ PRINCIPAL ROLES

TOMMY ROSS — Male / POC / Plays high school age

• Popular, confident on the surface but struggling internally with his sexuality but also non-chalant about it. No one cares so he disent care

• Must be comfortable with intimacy + kissing

• Light nudity possible (shirtless / locker-room atmosphere).

CHRIS — Male / Black / Plays high school age

• Classic high-school bully through the lens of the Black experience / hood culture.

• Uses strong, hurtful language including the f-slur + N-word (scripted).

• May smoke (no real substances used).

• Fight choreography required.

• Must be comfortable with blood + prosthetics/SFX rig.

•Comfortable with a kiss

BILLY — Male / Any race / Plays high school age

Chris’s right-hand man.

• Minimal scripted dialogue (mostly reactions, one-liners, improvised hostility).

• Uses the f-slur (scripted).

• Fight/stab choreography required.

• Comfortable with blood + action.

TRAVIS — Male / POC / Plays high school age

• Quiet but threatening energy; more physical than verbal.

• Very limited dialogue (mostly grunts, reactions, improvised hostility).

• Uses N-word + f-slur (scripted).

• Fight choreography required.

• Comfortable with blood + prosthetics.

MARGARET WHITE — Black woman / Open age

• Carrey’s mother.

• Only brief dialogue (a phrase or two).

• Face is never shown — filmed from knees/hands only.

• Bonus if you can braid hair, but not required.

✨ ADDITIONAL NEEDS

EXTRAS (ALL GENDERS / ANY RACE / Open age but must play high school age)

PROM EXTRAS: Students reacting to the chaos.

LOCKER ROOM EXTRAS: Shirtless/partial nudity.

STUNT/ INTIMACY COORDINATOR

• Must be comfortable choreographing school-fight realism, including:

– shoves

– hits

- hits with objects

– floor impact

– knife struggle beats

- stabs/slits/slices

• Safety-first mindset required.

SFX / MAKEUP ARTISTS

• Bruising, cuts, wounds

• Stab prosthetics

• Throat-slit rig

• Blood continuity

CONTENT WARNINGS (for transparency)
