EDINBURGH FRINGE OPPORTUNITY!

Casting for "The New Year," a one-act tragicomedy about two teenagers - lonely May and tortured Perry - who meet on New Year's Eve in an online roleplay chatroom, forming a deep but unstable bond that is tested when they plan to meet in person.

This is a non-union position. Rehearsals begin in April; our first performances will be in late May in NYC. A secondary rehearsal period will follow the NYC production. We perform Aug. 7-15 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.

You are strongly encouraged to be available for both of these time periods. The production will host a fundraiser over the summer to assist with housing and airfare costs.

This is for the role of PERRY. 17. Any gender. Depressed and antisocial. Uses online roleplay as a substitute for interpersonal connection, which he largely views as bullshit. Masks psychic pain under irony and dark humor, but is prone to bouts of intense vulnerability and possessiveness towards those he views as a lifeline.
