DESCRIPTION

Casting actors for a staged production of "The Mountains We Climb", an original play about grief and sudden loss. Specifically casting for two of the three characters, please submit a headshot + resume to the email attached to this listing (sides will be provided for self-taping):

CHORUS (20s, Any Gender, Any Ethnicity) - Unnamed in the script and show, however is the core of trio. Script can be rewritten for any and all pronouns. The childhood friend of Skye, and best friend of Josh, Chorus is the reason the trio even exists. Proud, hopeful, curious, stubborn. Strongly believes in their opinions, and wants to help their friends grow/thrive.

JOSH (20s, Male, Any Ethnicity) - A somewhat quiet guy, but opens up when he feels comfortable or challenged. His solution to grief is to hide away, however when he feels poked and prodded he is prone to verbally lashing out. Intelligent, witty, aspires to move away from his hometown.

IMPORTANT:
- As this is an original work, the playwright will be collaborating very closely with the cast. This is to say, characters can grow, and lines may alter. The three actors in this show will be heavily involved in its creative process, but will not be expected to help in its production.
- As there are only three actors in this production, rehearsals are flexible based on each person's schedule. CHORUS appears only in the first Act, and therefore might not be needed for every rehearsal. Same goes for the start date of the production, so please do not let scheduling conflicts affect your application.
- There are musical elements, however we do have musicians on standby. Although not necessary, please do let us know if you have any piano or violin experience.
- Rehearsals will take place in West Harlem (near Columbia University), and the performance venue is likely to be in a similar location, but could be subject to change.
- There will be a 100$ stipend for each role. However we are exploring options for a bonus and/or share of ticket profits.
- Sides and more information will be provided upon receipt of headshot and resume, feel free to also submit any reel you may have - however this is absolutely not expected.

Process will run from 23rd March - 17th May 2026
