DESCRIPTION
Amphibian Stage, a non-profit professional theatre based in Fort Worth, TX is pleased to announce that we are accepting acting submissions for the Acting Competition at SparkFest ’26. We are seeking US-based Latine* actors – inclusive of those belonging to or descending from the regions of North America, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America that self-identify as Latine – that currently live in and are authorized to work in the U.S. are invited to apply
Our hope is to find actors with exceptional skill that have not yet been afforded exceptional opportunities. For the past 3 years, SparkFest has been celebrating the artistic work of various underrepresented groups. 2023 celebrated MENASA artists, 2024 celebrated the work of AAPI artists, and 2025 was dedicated to Indigenous artists of Turtle Island and Hawai’i.
While this is a competition, the goal is always to uplift and celebrate each other while also providing you the opportunity to grow your network of industry connections.
*We have chosen the gender-neutral “Latine” specifically to be as inclusive to as many artists that identify within the diverse communities of North, Central and South America and the Caribbean that may identify with the focus of this year’s festival.
What this Opportunity is:
The top 10 Actors from our submission pool will be invited to Fort Worth, TX for 3 Rounds of Competition from June 10th - 14th with the competition occurring from June 11th - 13th; judged by a panel of three theater professional guest judges.* Actors located outside of the DFW metroplex will receive airfare and housing during the competition time in Fort Worth.
Round 1 will be a monologue. Round 2 will be a cold read side. Round 3 will be both monologue and side from the last two rounds implementing feedback provided by our guest judges. Awards for the top placing actors include: $5000 for first prize winner, $3000 for second prize winner, $1000 for third prize winner, and $500 for audience favorite. If selected, you will be contacted via email with more information.
This competition is open to both union and non-union actors alike.
*Competition Judges are not involved in the selection of the 10 actors.
Required Materials:
You must be 18+ at time of submission
Two contrasting monologues* of any genre/style/era that you feel showcases you as an artist.
Your entire video must be no longer than 2 minutes and sent as an Unlisted YouTube video.
A current headshot & resume
Failure to follow these instructions could result in disqualification of your submission
DEADLINE: Submissions will no longer be accepted by February 27th at 11:59 PM CST.
*If you would like to submit material in a language other than English you are more than welcome to, but understand that while we strove to have a panel of English/Spanish bilingual speakers, each person‘s individual language capacity may vary. If you decide to perform in a language other than English, we encourage you to lean into of the clarity of the emotional beats to ensure comprehension
