DESCRIPTION

Play Synopsis: Long-distance lovers, Ellie and Sylvia, are savoring their last moments together in Sylvia’s new apartment on the fourth-of-July (of all holidays) before they find themselves launched into the zombie apocalypse. Strangely enough, the “virus” seems to only be infecting one population: those who digest conservative media outlets and embody their ideologies. Sylvia and Ellie seek shelter in Sylvia's parents' basement, but before they can, they are forced to endure a passive aggressive barbeque with her conservative family. As they all break bread, we gain insight into the mindsets of conservative elders, as well as into the importance of queer resilience.

Character Descriptions:

Mr. Jones: (Cis man, straight, any race, to play age 55) Sylvia's Dad, MAGA, and the most outspoken about his political opinions of the Jones family. Mr. Jones is a suburbanite who believes everyone should work hard, legally. At his core, he thinks that the country is full of freeloaders living off of his tax dollars. It was his idea to bring the tv outside to watch the news during the Fourth of July festivities. He eats 2 hamburgers, and everyone else eats only 1. This character engages in stage combat.

Elijah: (cis boy, any race, 18+ to play age 16) Sylvia's cousin, Elijah aspires to be a mechanic. He has been deeply coddled and visibly favored by his parents, as opposed to his sister, Sophia. He is following in the MAGA footsteps of his family, and is fairly oblivious to the experiences of others. This character engages in stage combat.
