Audition Date: Submissions accepted between November 6-November 13.

Contract:

Venue-- Shtick NYC

Rehearsals-- November 18th- December 1st (5-6 rehearsals, evenings and weekends)

Performances to take place December 3rd and 4th at 8pm

$300 Stipend for the contract

Preparation:

Actors should submit a tape with a classical monologue, no longer than 2 minutes in length to [email protected]

This production is a theatrical adaptation inspired by the biblical story of King Ahab’s desire to seize Naboth’s vineyard, and Queen Jezebel’s ruthless scheme to obtain it by manipulating power, law, and morality. Through this ancient tale of injustice and greed, Shabtai exposes how absolute power leads to corruption, moral decay, and the silencing of the innocent.

The production is designed as an immersive dinner-theatre experience. The audience is invited to sit around the table, eat, drink wine, and become part of the unfolding drama. As food and wine flow, so do confessions, temptations, and abuses of authority.

Beyond the biblical plot, the play explores the danger of absolute power and the ever-present weakness within each of us to surrender to human desires: food, wine, sex, power, and money. Shabtai uses the dinner setting to mirror how easily civility can collapse when appetite, ambition, and authority converge.
