Director’s Note (from Telly Leung): RENT is a show that has earned a significant place in the canon of musical theatre and gave some young performers in the 1990’s star-making opportunities due to their iconic, individual performances. RENT only works when each actor that assumes these roles approaches it with the same individuality – and that means divorcing yourself from those iconic performances that have come before you and trusting that YOU already possess everything you need to embody these characters and make them your own.

Ethnicity note: The cast of RENT should reflect the diversity of New York City. All ethnicities encouraged to attend for all roles.

SEEKING:

[Ensemble] 20s to 30s, any ethnicity. Seeking 3 male-presenting and 3 female-presenting performers with wide vocal ranges that are adept at specific character work to create the 1990’s Alphabet City world of the show. This ensemble will be portraying featured roles including Mrs. Cohen, Mr. Jefferson, Mrs. Jefferson, Steve, Paul, Gordon, Alexi and others while also serving as understudies for principal role(s). We will also be seeking 2 offstage swings. The cast of RENT should reflect the diversity of New York City. All ethnicities encouraged to attend for all roles.
