Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a full-time Production Coordinator. Founded in 1970, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by contemporary American and international playwrights. MTC produces a season of plays annually in Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and off-Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street.
The Production Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Production and is instrumental in all production and facilities needs at MTC’s theatres and office. The Production Coordinator works directly with the MTC Production Department to provide support to shows, maintain a high standard of work environment, and ensure the flow of communication across the company from the Production Department. The PC will be based in the offices and serve as the central hub for the Production office. This position works closely with MTC Staff, directors, designers, stage managers, technical crews, consultants and vendors. Critical for success in this position is the ability to work in concert with others, and track and prioritize multiple short term and long-term projects at once.
Responsibilities:
· Manage multiple calendars for the Production Department
· Work with Production staff on budgets & templates
· Administer bid session documents, bid session invites, and meetings
· File and document management of all drawings and paperwork
· Manage spending and reports across PM staff and crew amongst productions (SM, Props, Costumes, Crew)
· Code and submit invoices for production and facilities
· Work with Finance to track payments to vendors
· Audit and submit weekly payroll
· Process new hire paperwork
· Manage time off requests for crew
· Oversees cleanliness and operations at 43rd street, including but not limited to hospitality, custodial, and security
· Communicate with vendors and provide job walks to obtain quotes
· Reserve freight elevator for MTC and renters
· Work with Director of Production on long-term planning and research projects
· Maintain permits and submissions
Requirements:
· Experience and background working in theater at a high level, running and maintaining shows; Experience on a Broadway level is preferred
· Minimum 2 years of Coordinator experience or similar experience demonstrating responsibilities
· Experience managing people and setting a strong example in the workplace
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability and willingness to always exercise professional courtesy and discretion, and maintain confidentiality as required
· Strong attention to detail, flexibility, and resourcefulness
· Experience, ability, and commitment to work with a diverse community of individuals and teams
· A positive attitude, concern for other people and community, presence, and self-confidence
· General computer skills including Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and G-Suite
· Must be able to climb and work from ladders and lift and carry 40 lbs.
The ideal candidate is good at problem solving and able to approach problems from many angles. Creativity and willingness to work as a team member required. Early morning, late night, and weekend hours might be required, standard day is 9a-6pm.
This is a full-time, salaried position, Overtime Exempt with a comprehensive benefits package including group health insurance with options for spousal, family and/or domestic partner coverage, voluntary dental coverage, basic life and long-term disability insurance, employer-funded pension, paid time off, and optional 401(k) and flexible spending plans for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting expenses.
Salary range: $52,000 to $53,500 annually commensurate with experience.
