What is PlayWell Brooklyn? PlayWell is an inclusive, sensory-rich indoor play space designed to nurture children’s development while fostering a welcoming community for families. Our space is thoughtfully crafted by Occupational Therapists and child development experts to encourage unstructured, child-led play, offering opportunities for physical, social, and emotional growth.We believe that play is more than just fun – it’s a vital tool for development. That’s why we focus on sensory-motor-based movement, using equipment and activities that engage and support children of all abilities. From swings and climbing structures to imaginative sensory play areas, every element is designed to help kids explore, learn, and thrive in their own unique way.At PlayWell, we value inclusivity, creativity, connection, AND PLAY. Whether through open play, expertly facilitated programming, or events, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment where families can bond, children can explore freely, and everyone feels they belong.

What You'll Do:

The PlayWell PlayCoach is a dynamic, enthusiastic, and supportive member of the team responsible for creating a fun, engaging, and inclusive play environment for children and families. This role focuses on providing hands-on, and developmentally appropriate play experiences that support children's growth and exploration. The PlayCoach will also enhance the overall family experience at PlayWell during open play hours to foster exploration and growth. In addition to leading play opportunities and sensory experiences, the PlayCoach will handle receptionist responsibilities such as greeting families, answering inquiries, managing check-ins, and ensuring smooth daily operations. You will also support the facilitation of school holiday camps in collaboration with other play coaches by using PlayWell’s Camp Curriculum.

What We're Looking For:

✅ Experience working with children in play, recreation, or educational settings (1-3 years preferred).

✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with children and their families.

✅ Strong organizational abilities and problem-solving skills.

✅ A passion for creating engaging, fun, and sensory-rich learning opportunities for diverse groups of children.

✅ A positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to multitask and manage daily responsibilities effectively.

Rates are between $18-22 for this role.

This is a contract position with the potential to grow as PlayWell continues to expand!

Physical Requirements:

• Must be comfortable working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment with young children.
• Ability to engage in active play, including bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and standing for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (e.g., play equipment, supplies, or assisting children as needed).
• Requires quick movement and agility to support children’s play and ensure a safe environment.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic setting with multiple activities happening at once.
