DESCRIPTION:
Immediately seeking non-union performers for Coppélia at the Animatronic Pizza Arcade: a new musical staged reading/workshop for a new work development festival/501c3 fundraiser with The Playground Experiment. Seeking strong musical theatre actor/singers, with extraordinary comedic chops for all roles. Must be available for 3 rehearsals between April 23rd - May 2nd. The workshop performance is Saturday, May 2nd (must be available the entire day) at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre on the Upper West Side. Offering a small performance stipend. Non-union. ROLES:
HILDA (Mezzo-Soprano). 20’s to play 12-year old tomboy, a mixture of brazen confidence and secret insecurity. Smart, fun, fiercely loyal to her friendships, afraid of growing up. Strong comedy chops needed. Any ethnicity.
FRANZ (C3 - G#4, Lyrical tenor). 20’s to play 12-year old who desperately wants to be popular and normal, but is secretly a hopeless romantic. Strong comedy chops needed. Any ethnicity.
DR. COPPÉLIUS/CHARLIE CHEDDAR (Dynamic tenor or high baritone, A2 - Bb4). 20’s-50’s to play 50ish. Must be great with accents and impressions. Disguises himself as a Chuck E. Cheese-type “Joisey rat” with a smart aleck attitude, but is actually a high tone former ballet dancer. Joisey accent when he’s Charlie Cheddar, but high-tone “classy” voice when he’s himself. Also your standard mad scientist super villain. Strong comedy chops and ability to quickly switch into various characters/voices/impressions needed. Any ethnicity.
COPPÉLIA (Non-speaking). 20’s to play age 12 - 16. A lovely ballet dancer. Non-speaking role. Any ethnicity. Will also double as ensemble.
ENSEMBLE: 20’s/30’s Comedic Musical Theatre Performers. Special skills and/or ability to play a musical instrument a plus.
Salary: Travel Stipend
