Part Time Wardrobe Dayworker


Pay: $22/hour

Schedule: Part Time-to be determined with Production Manager. Weekend availability a must.


Company XIV fuses dance, theater, circus, opera, burlesque and decadent design to create one-of-a-kind theatrical experiences inspired by the court culture which flourished under the reign of Louis XIV. Founded by Artistic Director Austin McCormick in 2006, the company produces several 360-degree immersive productions annually at its 175-seat Théâtre XIV in Bushwick, Brooklyn. XIV’s commitment to pushing boundaries is unparalleled, employing dozens of eclectic artists annually in immersive and genre-defying baroque burlesque productions. Recent mainstage events include Nutcracker Rouge, Cinderella, Seven Sins, Cocktail Magique and Queen of Hearts.

POSITION

In search of a part time wardrobe dayworker for Company XIV’s upcoming show, Petite Rouge. Potential candidates must know standard industry sewing techniques, and have least intermediate sewing skills. The position requires costume maintenance and laundry - both hand and machine wash.


RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform costume day work, including but not limited to washing, drying, sorting, and distributing show costumes.
- Make repairs to costumes including garments, accessories, and shoes based on repair notes compiled by the dresser, stage management, designers, production manager, and director.
- Consult with performers as needed to understand repairs needed.
- For complex repairs, consult with the Costume Designer to find the best solution.
- Report all costuming issues and concerns to the designer, director, and production management.


QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous professional theatrical experience in costuming or wardrobe.
- Competence in hand sewing and use of sewing machines and a basic understanding of garment construction.
- Basic understanding of how to launder and maintain different types of garments and fabrics.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
- Astute attention to detail, strong organizational and adaptability skills, and ability to prioritize and self-motivate.
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
- Must be able to maintain a professional, quiet and concentrated work environment.
- Genuine excitement about being part of a small team.
