About The PIT:

The PIT is dedicated to the instruction, performance, and development of original comedy. The PIT strives to entertain and educate the community about the comedic arts in a safe and nurturing environment. The PIT is composed of three elements: a school that focuses on the craft of improvisation, writing, and a variety of electives; a theater that presents original comedy shows six nights a week; and a corporate workshop program that offers team building, leadership, and business training.

The Peoples Improv Theater was founded by Ali Reza Farahnakian in 2002, and presently operates an intimate blackbox theater located at 154 W 29th Street. https://thepit-nyc.com/about/

Role Overview:

As the Part-Time Marketing Associate, you'll play a key role in supporting the marketing efforts of The PIT. You will assist in the execution of digital campaigns, content creation, and promotions across multiple platforms. You’ll collaborate with the marketing team to raise awareness of our school, performances, and workshops, helping to bring new students and comedy lovers into the PIT family.

Responsibilities:

- Digital Content Creation: Write and design social media posts, emails, and blog articles to promote shows, classes, workshops, and special events.

- Social Media Management:
Assist in managing The PIT’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and interact with our community

- Email Campaigns: Help create and distribute newsletters and promotional emails to our community.

- Promotional Materials: Assist in the creation of flyers, posters, and digital ads to promote The PIT’s programs.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

- Marketing Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a marketing or communications role (experience in arts, theater, or in an education setting is a plus).

- Social Media Savvy: Knowledge of social media best practices and trends (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc.).

- Email Marketing Tools: Experience with platforms like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar.

- Team Player: Ability to collaborate in a creative, fast-paced environment while staying organized and detail-oriented.

- Interest in Comedy: While not required, a passion for improv, sketch comedy, or stand-up will help you connect with The PIT community!

Schedule:

- Hours: 10-20 hours per week, Monday-Friday (Flexible schedule within office hours).
- Location: Only considering applicants who are based in New York City and able to work in our offices.
