DESCRIPTION

The improvised musical, The Legend Of You is seeking versatile performers for the attached roles.

The Legend Of You, the live show that literally fights your figurative demons! Each performance, our troupe selects a real-life problem submitted by the audience and turns their actual issue into a fictitious fantasy adventure, complete with monsters, a terrifying villain, and fantastical trials inspired by real-life details.

By the end of our hero’s journey, we’ll arm them and our volunteer with a mantra to bring back to the real world. It’s not medical advice, but it is *magical* advice!

HOW TO SUBMIT

1) Email headshot, resume, and brief cover letter introducing yourself to [email protected] with the following in the subject line: Last Name, First Name - The Legend of You

2) Please include videos (roughly 1-2 minutes) to showcase the items outlined below

VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

Videos should be sent via shareable link (Youtube, Vimeo, google drive etc.) but please ensure no password or account is needed and no download is required. Do not attach a video file to your email.

MATERIAL TO PREPARE

1. A 32 bar (including verse & chorus) original parody song set to a recognizable melody.

In the style of SNL or Weird Al Yankovic, we are looking to see your personal lyrical rewrite and delivery using a famous melody.
Drawing from Modern Pop like Taylor Swift, timeless classics like Queen, or family favorites like Disney or Broadway, we want you to sing a modified or fully rewritten lyric.
We are looking to see sharp wit, a great sense of humor, bold confidence, and vocal skill come together for an awesome and hilarious sketch!

2. A 1-Minute special skills showcase

We'd love to see what's in your bag of tricks, whatever that means to you!
It could be a showcase of different impressions or original characters, physical feats, gymnastics, dance, musical instruments, or a ted-talk style introduction to something you're passionate about.
We are looking for a fun personality who would share themselves and their interests with the ensemble and bring a memorable cast of characters to the stage.

DEADLINE

Deadline for audition submission: Thursday, April 23. Submissions may not be considered after this date.

BREAKDOWN

The patrons and staff of The Legend Of You reflect the diverse city in which they live and work. We encourage performers of all backgrounds and identities to apply!

As part of the experience, you will be responsible for delivering scripted content and improvising based on real-life details provided by the audience.

The ideal performer should be:
- warm and welcoming to patrons
- an enthusiastic ‘small talker’, comfortable breaking through awkwardness to get people mingling
- able to commit confidently to improvisational moments
- fearless in their ability to embody different characters
- good at commanding a room and building anticipation and excitement
- logistically oriented to keep the show and run time on track despite improv conditions

TIME COMMITMENT:
Performers will be engaged for 3 rehearsals per each performance, roughly 1-2 times monthly
Additional rehearsal may be added for development

PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Schedule varies based on bookings, currently 1-2 times monthly
Availability and interest in increased involvement would match our goals to grow our performance schedule

SALARY

$20.00 – $25.00 per hour
