About Us: Led by BroadwayWorld Award Winning Music Director and Theatrical Historian Jarrett Winters Morley, JWM: A Theatrical Company was founded in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic to function as a production and educational company within the world of Musical Theatre. Since 2020, they’ve produced shows throughout New York City, bringing accessible, affordable theatre to individuals around the city. Educationally, with an industry in a complete downward spiral due to the worldwide health crisis, Jarrett combined his love of history with his love of theatre to create an unparalleled Musical Theatre History lecture. Tradition: Exploring the Art of Theatrical History is a one-hour class that introduces and discusses a musical- from the show's conception and the creative minds involved, to the untold backstage stories, and how each show had a unique impact on the industry and the larger world. The scope of the class ranges from early musicals as far back as the 1700s to the contemporary blockbuster. The objective is to give class members a chance to interact, listen to, and discuss productions both old and new. This class appeals to children, young adults, those who have been immersed in the theater for decades, and those who want to learn theatrical history or simply reminisce about some of their favorite shows. To date, more than 1,000 lectures have delivered at over 30 locations across the United States and Internationally.

Job Description: We seek creative individuals passionate about Musical Theatre and its history! What is so special about our team is that our lecturers consist of working performers, composers, playwrights, and individuals in the arts. Great charisma is a must! Lecturers must also have a pre-existing general knowledge of the history of Musical Theatre. You will be responsible for interacting with lecture clients and engaging with attending individuals. You will communicate closely with our Scheduling Coordinators and Jarrett to develop schedules that work for your convenience.

Responsibilities:

● Deliver a pre-written lecture with included notes, videos, and graphics.

● Communicating with Scheduling Coordinators about conflicts, completed lectures, and scheduling new classes.

● Staying up-to-date with what is happening in the world of Musical Theatre, and being able to draw comparisons between the show being discussed and the world at large.

Requirements:

● Proven experience engaging with audiences while performing or delivering lectures.

● A background in the arts as a creator, performer, or designer.

● Excellent verbal communication skills.

● Creative thinker.

● Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the supervisory team.

● Passion for storytelling and connecting with audiences.

● Must be able to provide your laptop and connective cables (HDMI, power, adapters).

Preferred Qualifications:

● Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a Theatre-related field.

● An Associate’s Degree is also acceptable.

● Substantial experience in the field without a degree will also be accepted.
