DESCRIPTION

Florida Studio Theatre seeks a Lighting Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operation of our electrics inventory. This individual will also have the opportunity to regularly serve as the lighting designer for productions and events when needed. We are looking for a good communicator who is detail oriented and will work cooperatively with the Producing Artistic Director, Director of Production and Lighting Designers regarding paperwork, deadlines, and allocation of resources to enthusiastically support the artistic work and mission of the theatre.

Job Responsibilities Include:

- Organize, manage, and maintain FST’s lighting inventory in order to keep resources flowing to support multiple productions running simultaneously across five stages.

- Collaborate with the lighting designer, director, and other creative staff to realize the artistic intentions of the production.

- Read and interpret lighting plots and other technical paperwork to safely and efficiently hang, focus, and patch lighting equipment.

- Keep an eye on reports from stage management in order to promptly answer lighting questions and concerns as well as addressing notes.

- Support lighting focus and level-setting sessions and actively participate in technical rehearsals.

- Work with the Director of Production to accomplish goals within the schedule and budget.

- Balance the need to directly support the productions with hands-on work and the need to provide administrative and logistical support.

- Regularly serve as the lighting designer for FST productions and events when needed and possible.

Job Qualifications:

- Deep familiarity with and skill in the area of theatrical lighting technology and industry best practice

- Dedication to supporting the establishment of a safe work environment

- Experience as a lighting designer

- Collaboration and a creative approach to problem-solving

- Strong communication skills

- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines

- Strong administrative skills

- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite is a plus

- Desire to contribute to artistic work

Job Type: Full Time (Exempt), Permanent

Reports to: Director of Production

Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 per year commensurate with experience.
