Egg & Spoon Theatre Collective is now accepting applications for INCUBATE NYC 2026, our borough-based new works initiative supporting playwrights of color developing bold, playful, and community-rooted new plays. Applications are available at www.eggandspoontheatre.org and close December 20, 2025.
Launched in 2021, INCUBATE NYC nurtures early-stage new work from writers with roots in The Bronx or Queens, bringing their stories to life through collaborative workshops and public readings in community-centered spaces. The program uplifts artists and stories that have long been excluded from traditional theatrical development pipelines.
Past INCUBATE NYC playwrights include Christin Eve Cato, Jesse Jae Hoon, Amalia Oliva Rojas, Nelson Diaz-Marcano, Borna Barzin, lily gonzales, and Juan Ramirez Jr.
INCUBATE NYC is open to all Black, Indigenous, and writers of color who are based in or originally from Queens or The Bronx. Writers may be at any stage in their careers.
Workshops are intended for full-length plays that have not yet had a fully realized production. Workshop resources include actors, a director, a stage manager, and lighting and/or sound design support.
