SEEKING
SEEKING EQUITY ACTORS FOR PRINCIPAL ROLES IN DAMN YANKEES (see breakdown).
Storyline:
One of America’s most beloved musicals is coming back, spit-shined for a new generation. All the elements that made it famous are there: a diehard love of baseball, one man’s fateful (and hilarious) pact with the Devil, and Broadway’s sexiest femme fatale...but gently re-tooled for its first major revival in the 21st Century. Featuring iconic songs like “Whatever Lola Wants” and “(Ya Gotta Have) Heart”, this production immerses audiences in a whirlwind of temptation, ambition, love, and sacrifice in this bold new adaptation by Lortel winner Will Power and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Doug Wright, additional lyrics by Tony Award-winner, Lynn Ahrens, and directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Sergio Trujillo.

Breakdown
SEEKING:
The producers and creative team of DAMN YANKEES are seeking actors of all races, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and gender identities to audition for all roles.
[GLORIA THORPE] Female-Presenting, Open ethnicity, 30s-40s. A tough-talking journalist, Gloria works overtime to succeed as a sports reporter in a world dominated by men. She’s got a brusque manner, dry wit, and great investigative instincts. Very strong singer and mover. Principal.
THE FOLLOWING ROLES ARE ON OFFER:
[APPLEGATE] Male-Presenting, Ageless. He’s a debonair fellow with reptilian charm, dressed in a sharp suit. One minute, he’s a persuasive used car salesman, and the next, he’s as darkly volcanic as the Devil himself. He’s even got a few magic tricks up his sleeve, like one of those show-room illusionists you might catch at a B-list casino off the Las Vegas strip. Any ethnicity; Principal. THIS ROLE IS ON OFFER.
[LOLA] Female-Presenting, 20s-30s; Savagely beautiful, Lola is seduction in human form. But beneath her fantastic allure, she’s a wounded creature at heart… years ago, she sold her soul for youth, beauty and the gift of dance. Now over three hundred years old, she’s ready to trade in her feather boa for true love. Any ethnicity; Principal. THIS ROLE IS ON OFFER.
[JOE BOYD (OLD JOE)] Male-Presenting, Black, 40s-50s. Joe’s solidly middle class, with an abiding love of baseball, rivaled only by his love for his wife Meg. Once athletic, he’s settled into the middle-aged spread and the complacency that comes with it. Still, he’s a good soul, and he’s well-liked in his Baltimore neighborhood. Principal. THIS ROLE IS ON OFFER.
[MEG BOYD] Female-Presenting, Black, 50s. Meg’s a devoted teacher, who treats her students as if they were her own kids, working hard to make ends meet at an underfunded school. Almost thirty years of marriage, and – still – no one can make her smile like her beloved husband Joe… except when he’s glued to a baseball game. Principal. THIS ROLE IS ON OFFER.
[YOUNG JOE HARDY] (aka, the new JOE BOYD) Male-Presenting, Black, 20s. He’s got the same fundamental decency, sense of fair play, and marital devotion as his older self… but in an altogether different chassis. Broad-shouldered, well-muscled and handsome, he’s learning first-hand what it means to get a second chance. Principal. THIS ROLE IS ON OFFER.
[VAN BUREN] Male-Presenting, 30s-40s. The Oriole’s manager, he’s got a soft spot for his team, even if they are incompetent. Ever hopeful – sometimes to a fault – he thinks enthusiasm can compensate for a lack of skill. If only it were true! Any ethnicity; Principal. THIS ROLE IS ON OFFER.
