Reporting to the General Manager, the Company Manager is the primary liaison between the company and the General Management team, and will support all administrative activities for the production. The regular schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, with some additional hours as needed, generally in alignment with the production calendar and present for most rehearsals and performances. The New Group’s office and theatre are located in midtown Manhattan.
This is a full-time, temporary, and non-union position with a salary of $1,275 per week. Position begins on or about February 16 and continues through May 17, 2026, with the possibility to extend through May 31, 2026. This position is exempt from overtime.

Founded in 1995, The New Group is an award-winning, artist-driven company with a commitment to developing and producing powerful, contemporary theater. In addition to producing three annual productions, the organization’s New Group/New Works play and musical development program champions original works by emerging and established authors. The New Group also operates a variety of theater education programs that provide opportunities for artistically inclined middle school, high school, and college students.
* Act as The New Group’s liaison between General Management and the production’s cast, crew, creative team, and Box Office/Audience Services team.
* Provide onsite coverage at rehearsals, performances, and production meetings, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Coordinate company care, including emergency health and wellness appointments as needed.
* Process house seat and company tickets in conjunction with Marketing and Box Office.
* Maintain and distribute current contact information for agents, cast, and creative team.
* Prepare weekly payroll reports and distribute paychecks to production personnel.
* Prepare and file weekly union reports and process corresponding benefits check requests.
* Complete AEA, SDC, and USA union reports and other notices in conjunction with Production Manager, Production Stage Manager, and Associate General Manager.
* Track and reconcile company management expenses.
* Compile necessary materials and copy for production program and circulate for approval.
* Lead company hospitality efforts, including meet & greets, tech dinners, distribution of opening/closing gifts and other special events as needed.
* Coordinate invited dress rehearsals upon request.
* Communicate and enforce The New Group’s policies and applicable union requirements with the company.
* Facilitate communication of supply and venue needs to General Management.
* Coordinate artist appearances at events and arrange travel as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* At least one year of Company Manager experience or experience in a General Management office required.
* Familiarity with the Off-Broadway community and working knowledge of theatrical unions (AEA, SDC, USA, Local 802) is desired.
* Proficiency with Google Workspace.
* Experience with Spektrix or other CRM databases and electronic sales interfaces.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships across artists, staff, and The New Group leadership.
* Ability to exercise sound judgement, make informed decisions, and to learn and follow procedures.
* A collaborative team player and skilled problem-solver with a positive, proactive attitude and a solutions-oriented mindset.
* Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and resourceful in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, written, and administrative abilities.
* Enthusiasm for working in a creative, artist-driven space.
* Ability to frequently travel between the office and theatre during the workday. Must be able to navigate multiple levels and provide an attentive presence. Must be able to safely and periodically lift and transport items weighing up to 30 lbs.
* Must be available to work onsite during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.
