DESCRIPTION
Missoula Children's Theatre is casting Actor/Directors to join our national Red Truck Tour for the 2026/2027 season.
We currently have the following tour contract opportunities:
3 month contract - Summer 2026 - May 26, 2026 - August 21, 2026
7 month contract - Summer/Fall 2026 - May 26, 2026 - December 11, 2026
12 month contract - May 26, 2026 - May 14, 2027
Contract extensions are available depending on your interest and MCT's needs.

About Us
Inspiring dreams and aspirations, and developing skills for life since 1973, the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) brings the power of commitment, hard work and performance to communities all over the nation and the world with its unique touring theatre company. MCT’s transformative programming includes a production of a full-scale musical with local children in just six days.
Logistics
A tour team consists of 2 professional Actor/Directors. Each team visits a new community every week, and are responsible for auditioning, casting, and rehearsing local school age children for approximately 20 hours over a week’s time. The hard work culminates in two performances of an hour-long musical with one of the MCT Actor/Directors performing a supporting role alongside the children. The other actor/director serves as the primary director. MCT teams also conduct educational workshops as part of each residency week.
Requirements
- Well-rounded performance skills
- Work successfully and ethically with children
- The ability to communicate effectively
- Physical and emotional stamina with the ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Maturity and problem-solving skills
- An interest in travel
- A sense of humor
- A valid driver’s license and good driving record. Due to insurance requirements, actors must be aged 20 or older and have 2 years experience driving
- A current US passport
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay of guaranteed minimum of $400 per residency week completed.
- Guaranteed minimum increases after every quarter worked.

- Use of a company-owned truck for travel to residency weeks
- Job/travel-related expenses during the course of touring - (travel to and from Missoula not included)

Training dates for Summer 2026 are as follows:
- 5/26/2026 - Virtual Training Day
- 5/27/2026 - Travel to Missoula
- 5/28/2026 - 6/5/2026 - Training in Missoula
Comprehensive paid training in beautiful Missoula, Montana! Training will include learning MCT teaching methods, show blocking, and music. Housing, meals and transportation provided during training.
