DESCRIPTION

This is a developmental, fully-staged workshop of a new musical / immersive theater experience. Project will be professionally filmed.

Performances January 30th - February 2nd at ARTXNYC in Chelsea, Manhattan (409 W 14th St, New York NY). Rehearsals throughout January in Manhattan.

In your submission, please include a headshot, resume, and singing video. If you play an instrument, please include a video of that as well.

Storyline: Every cosmic year, the planets meet at the edge of the universe to share how they’ve used the sun’s energy. Earth, now brimming with intelligent life, shares the fragile beauty of human art and expression, inspiring the celestial bodies to explore artistic connection. As the pain woven into human creation causes Earth to fade, the planets are forced to grapple with the paradox of creation and destruction that could heal their discord or deepen it forever.

SEEKING:

All characters can be any age, any gender, any ethnicity.

[EARTH] the planet who bears the beauty and burden of life. after eons of mass extinction and miraculous creation, they bear more than just swaying plants and squirming organisms. tonight, earth shares the news of their intelligent life. (strong singer & multi-instrumentalist).

[SATURN] appointed with power, anointed with rings. saturn leads every cosmic meeting with tranquility, wisdom, and control – believing that order and patience are the only way to keep the galaxy from tearing itself apart. (strong singer).

[MARS] a planet of extremes, mars is blunt, passionate, and polarizing. with harsh truths and unapologetic blame, no wonder they’re estranged. (strong belter).

[VENUS] through golden veils, they hide their yearning for jupiter, until the fleeting moment they pass each other in the sky. tonight, they’ll finally be able to express what that passing moment means to them. (strong singer & guitar player).

[JUPITER] they could have become a star, but instead they became a storm. if only they grew bigger. burned brighter. maybe then, they could rest. but their beautiful, tragic winds rage on. (skilled painter).

[MERCURY] every day, they zip around the sun twice. closer than icarus. scorched and cratered. and yet, isolated and misunderstood, their nights are unbearably cold. (strong dancer).

[NEPTUNE] they peer at you through ethereal mists. they reach for you through methane skies. so distant, they’re impossible to relate to. but tonight, they won’t be so distant. will you reach back? (strong dancer).

[URANUS] a sideways planet with an unpredictable orbit. uranus masks uncertainty with humor, resisting closeness by never quite facing anyone head-on. (strong dancer).

[THE STARS] a watchful chorus. they observe, comment, and occasionally interfere. sometimes comforting, sometimes cruel. always present. (strong choral singers & dancers).
