SEEKING
Seven non-equity actors for a 29-hour reading of a new play, Beyond Olympus by Jeff Weissman. Beyond Olympus is a mythic psychological drama about Beethoven confronting the loss of his hearing - and the god he believes has taken it. As Apollo appears in shifting forms, Beethoven must defy divine judgment and compose a symphony that proves his genius.

All characters may be played by actors of any race/ethnicity. Ability to play a musical instrument is a plus. All but Beethoven will also double with other characters TBD.
SEEKING
Actor 1 (male, 20s)
Beethoven – A brilliant, volatile composer; defiant, proud, and haunted by deafness. Determined to leave behind a legacy greater than the gods themselves.
Actor 2 (male, 40s–60s)
Apollo – God of music; proud, divine rival to Beethoven. In certain scenes, Apollo is perceived by Beethoven in the form of mortal characters. Doubles with eight additional characters.
Actor 3 (any gender, 20s-30s)
Sir George Smart – One of the chief musical leaders and organizers in England and The Philharmonic Society of London. Clotho (Fate) – Spins the thread of life; prophetic and watchful. Doubles with four additional characters.
Actor 4 (female, 20s–30s)
Elise von Brüning – Beethoven’s love; intelligent, warm, drawn to his genius but wary of his intensity. Lachesis (Fate) – Measures the thread of life; calm, deliberate. Doubles with four additional characters.
Actor 5 (female, 30s–40s)
Josephine Brunsvik – A countess, Beethoven’s confidante; compassionate, with unspoken love for him. Atropos (Fate) – Cuts the thread of life; decisive, ominous. Doubles with six additional characters.
Actor 6 (male, 30s–40s)
Kaspar – Beethoven’s loyal but flawed brother; practical, ambitious, torn between survival and loyalty. Prince Lichnowsky – Beethoven’s patron; cautious, balancing admiration with fear of his boldness. William Ayrton – Critic and Philharmonic Society member; sharp, skeptical, early supporter of Beethoven's Ninth.
Actor 7 (male, 20s-40s)
Peter – Beethoven’s childhood friend from Bonn; loyal, watchful, and a violinist. Courtier - Polished master of ceremonies in Prince Lichnowsky’s salon; formal, poised, and authoritative. Doubles with five additional characters.
