SEEKING:

TEEN CEE CEE, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Female Presenting, Early 20s. Still pursuing stardom but feeling her teen hormones raging too. Realizing she will never be like the popular girls but prays her talent will help her rise above it all. Will play various other roles. Strong youthful belt with a versatile mix. Strong dancers are a plus.

TEEN BERTIE, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Female Presenting, Early 20s. By now the rules by which her Mother and Aunt Neetie have made her live have become far too confining, and Teen Bertie longs to break away. Only Teen Cee Cee's letters and advice and influence make her feel as if the future might be bright for her someday. Doubles as various other roles. Solid but pretty voice, with a versatile mix and soprano. Strong dancers are a plus.

JOHN, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – (CAST) Male Presenting, Mid 30s – Early 40s. John's family were expecting him to go into the family restaurant business in Beach Haven, NJ. But one afternoon his aunt took him to a show at the local theatre and he was hooked. He worked there as an apprentice, played small roles, and became managing director. When the owner died and left him the theatre, he was deliriously happy until he realized that the theatre has always been in debt, slowly sinking away. Marries Cee Cee. Will double as various other roles.

MICHAEL, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Male Presenting, Mid 30’s – Early 40’s. The WASP Jared Kushner. Arrogant, self-absorbed, bought his way into Harvard Business School. Wanted to marry Bertie because he knew she'd look great to all of his business associates. Doubles as JERRY GREY – a Huckster showman in Atlantic City who has exploited talented children, making them do as many shows a day as humanly possible – and various other roles. Strong singer (only one of two men onstage), with a versatile bari/tenor voice.

LEONA, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Female Presenting, Mid 30’s – 40’s. Leona might have been in show business herself if she'd applied all of her aggressiveness to her own career, but she had to work to support first her family, then her husband, and now Cee Cee. She works in the scarf department at Macy's when she's not at dance recitals or rehearsals with Little Cee Cee, where she stands in the back, doing the dance herself. Also plays MONICA - an over-the-hill actress whose better days have passed so she ended up playing leads every summer in Beach Haven – and various other roles. Covers the role of Cee Cee. Strong, versatile singer with a belt and mix – must blend vocally with the ensemble. Strong dancers are a plus.

ROSE, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Female Presenting, Mid 30’s – 40’s. Rose is proper and pinched. She has lived the wealthy WASP woman life and looked down on everyone else's lifestyle, probably so she doesn’t have to have human contact with anyone. Her hopes for her daughter are that she will grow to be just like her. She is horrified by the friendship of Bertie and Cee Cee. Doubles as MRS. LEWANDOWSKI – a loud mouthed stage mother living off the “glory” of her daughter’s good looks – and various other roles. Covers the role of Bertie. Solid, versatile singer with a soprano and mix – must blend vocally with the ensemble. Strong dancers are a plus.

JANICE, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Female Presenting, 30’s. A dedicated hospice worker who grew up in Monterey and never left. Doubles as SANDY - a bimbo who got the ingénue track at the theatre because no one else wanted it – and various other roles. Solid, versatile mix/belt (possibly a little soprano) - good character singer for Sandy, but able to mix well with the ensemble. Strong dancers are a plus.

NINA, ENSEMBLE, As Cast – Female Presenting, 8-10. Bertie’s daughter. Will double as a couple other roles and cover the role of Little Bertie and/or Little Cee Cee. Strong, versatile singer with a belt/mix and possibly a little soprano. No taller than 4’4.

MALE SWINGS 1 AND 2 – Male Presenting, Mid 30’s – Early 40’s. Offstage covers for the John and Michael roles.

FEMALE SWING 1 – Female Presenting, 30’s – Early 40’s. Offstage cover for the roles of Cee Cee, Leona, Rose, and Janice.

FEMALE SWING 2 – Female Presenting, 30’s – Early 40’s. Offstage cover for the roles of Bertie, Rose, Leona, and Janice.

TEEN SWING – Female Presenting, Early 20’s. Offstage cover for the roles of Teen Cee Cee and Teen Bertie.

CHILD SWINGS 1 AND 2 – Female Presenting, 8-10. Offstage covers for the roles of Little Cee Cee, Little Bertie, and Nina. No taller than 4’4.
