Position Type: Full-time, Non-Union

Location: Midsize Off-Broadway Theater, New York City

We’re seeking a hands-on, reliable backstage team member to help keep our Off-Broadway dance production run smoothly. This role combines deck crew and light technical support responsibilities, working closely with the Stage Manager and Production Manager to ensure seamless transitions and safe backstage operations.

Responsibilities:

+ Execute scenic shifts, prop handoffs, and performer cues during rehearsals and performances.

+ Assist with setup, reset, and cleanup of props, costumes, and special effects between performances.

+ Support quick changes and coordinate with Wardrobe as needed.

+ Help maintain and repair backstage systems, including basic coms, video playback, and small gear fixes.

+ Climb ladders and safely handle tools, cables, and light rigging when required.

+ Maintain backstage organization and uphold safety standards.

+ Communicate clearly with the Stage Management and Technical teams to keep the show running smoothly.

Ideal Candidate:

Prior experience on a live performance, touring, or theatrical production crew.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds.

Basic technical knowledge (coms systems, cabling, playback, repairs) a plus.

Strong work ethic, teamwork, and a “pitch-in” attitude.
