DESCRIPTION

Vanguard Theater in Montclair, NJ is casting Newsies – Newsies: The Musical is a high-energy Disney stage show inspired by the real-life 1899 newsboys' strike in New York City. It follows charismatic leader Jack Kelly, who rallies fellow newsies to fight for fair pay against publishing giants Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO AUDITION:

1. SLATE: your name, role(s) of interest, and the selection you are singing; Please use an accompanist or a backing track.
2. Please prepare a 32-bar cut of a song from either the show Newsies or a song in a similar style to the show
3. Please submit a resume and headshot
4. Please submit a dance and vocal reel.
5. Upload your audition video to YouTube and share with us an unlisted link.

DEADLINE: March 15, 2026 at 11:59pm!

Actors of all backgrounds will be considered for all roles.

Important Dates:

First Rehearsal: Monday, May 18th, 2026

Tech Begins: Monday, June 1st, 2026

Opening: Thursday, June 11th, 2026

Closing: Sunday, June 28th, 2026

Pay: $350/week

All rehearsals and performances are held at Vanguard Theater, conveniently located just a 30-minute train ride from NYC to Bay Street station in Montclair, NJ. From there, it's just a two-minute walk to the theater.
