DESCRIPTION

Roundabout Theatre Company, the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatre, seeks an organized and personable individual to join the company’s Artistic department as the Assistant to the Artistic Director. This position is an essential part of Roundabout’s Artistic work supporting leadership and the department as a whole. This position is on-site at the midtown offices and will require some weeknight or weekend work.


This is some of what the Assistant to the Artistic Director will do:

  • Serve as Executive Assistant to Incoming Artistic Director Chris Ashley, including managing his calendar, scheduling meetings (both internal and external), fielding all phone calls, securing tickets for performances, coordinating business travel, and drafting correspondence
  • Serve as a liaison for all departments in Roundabout, artists, Board members, donors, and other constituents. Includes attending and taking minutes for all Senior Staff meetings
  • Provide research and support projects for the Artistic Director as needed
  • Reconcile and code credit card statements
  • Manage booking of house seats and complimentary ticket offers for Roundabout productions on behalf of the Artistic Director, including Opening Night Tickets and Seating
  • Correspondence with artists and teams on all Roundabout shows
  • Support the general operations of the Artistic Department including, when possible, assistance with special programs such as Space Jam and Roundabout Directors Group as well as developmental readings and workshops
  • Evaluate script submissions, readings, and productions when requested, and serve as a member of the Artistic Department’s Script Reading Team
  • Other special projects possibly including Tony Voter bookings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Artistic Director


This is some of what the Assistant to the Artistic Director should bring:

  • 2-3 years of administrative experience in a performing arts setting. Personal assistant experience a plus
  • Computer savvy at Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Experience managing calendars and organizing schedules
  • Knowledge of and passion for theatre
  • The ability to maintain confidential information
  • Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on the areas of writing, research, phone, and organizational
  • Keen attention to detail
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to lift 20 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation


This is a full-time on-site position with all standard Roundabout benefits package that includes medical plan paired with a health reimbursement account, dental, vision, 401k with 5% employer contribution, PTO, LTD, and life insurance. The standard schedule is Mon-Fri, 10 am–6 pm, but it is subject to change based on the needs of the Artistic Director. Advance notice will be given in the case of a schedule variation. The salary for the role is $55,000–60,000 annually plus any overtime for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

SALARY
