Play Your Part, LLC is casting three roles in the upcoming original play, Mister Snickers of New York City, by Michael Raimondi, premiereing at The Wild Project as part of the Fresh Fruit Festival from April 27th - May 3rd, then continuing it's run at Urban Stages from May 6th - May 17th. Rehearsals begin March 30th, five days per week for no more than five hours each. Full schedule to be shared if invited to submit.
Mister Snickers of New York City follows a gay man’s alcohol-soaked attempt at building a chosen family, centering around his best friend, his dog, Mister Snickers, and the spiritual journey he finds himself on as a result. Against the backdrop of a pop-up book style NYC, infused with music, Mister Snickers of New York City tells the classic story of a boy and his dog as a queer journey from selfish addict to generous friend.
OLIVIA OLIVIER (female presenting, plays 40’s) effervescent, queer icon / Broadway diva with a killer voice, think a Buddhist version of Eden Espinosa or Natlie Joy Johnson. Deeply loyal, resilient, and sensitive, she is committed to her Buddhist practice, while navigating a more inexplicable connection to the spiritual realm.
RICK BOWMAN (male presenting, plays early 30’s to mid-40’s) a cosmopolitan gay who loves sailing, designer clothes, and fine art. A victim of body dysmorphia and queer materialistic consumerism, he knows what he wants, and hates admitting when he is wrong, especially to himself. He’s grandma’s little boy who deserves the best and knows it. He’s a good person, deep down, sharing glimpses of compassion when convenient.
MUSICIAN (male presenting) a musical artist who plays acoustic guitar and piano, as he busks throughout New York City; at least 6’ tall with a lean build.
Confirmed casting includes Kenon Veno (Vile Isle), Ka-ling Cheung (The Other Two, Evil), Mecca Akbar (Sesame Street The Musical), and Sharon Wheatley (Come From Away). Directors Abigail Zealey-Bess (Esemble Studio Theatre) & Josh Tyson (Raised In Captivity). Puppetry Design, Fabrication and Direction by Aaron Haskell (Life of Pi).
Please send headshot, resume and reel or dramatic monologue (or instrumental of a short song if auditioning for the Musician) via a Google drive link. Sides will be provided for self-tapes followed by in person callbacks.
AEA Showcase (approval pending). AEA minimum stipend of $1,500. Submission deadline of March 14th.
