DESCRIPTION

Seeking actors/singers for This Side of Paradise at the New York Theater Festival.


This Side of Paradise, based on the semi-autobiographical debut novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, follows Amory Blaine, the self-absorbed and overly confident son of a wealthy family. Starting at Princeton and traveling through the Jazz Age, Amory searches for this truth in life, literature, and love.


After a reading at the Producers’ Club, This Side of Paradise makes its fully-staged debut at the New York Theater Festival this July.


Those who apply should be strong actors with solid singing skills and the willingness to learn choreography (but not necessarily trained in dance)


Submission Guidelines: You must be local to NYC. Please make sure to include a video of you singing a song that represents your voice well. Pay close attention to the rehearsal schedule. Due to the small number of rehearsals, being present for them is important.

AMORY BLAINE: The introspective and self-absorbed son of a wealthy family, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald, requires lip-to-lip contact with performers playing Rosalind and Isabelle. (B2-G4) ALREADY CAST


TOM D’INVILLIERS: A bookish and introverted college student, based on John Peale Bishop. (C2-G4 (optional B4)) (This track also plays the minor character SLICKER)


ROSALIND CONNAGE: A critical and pragmatic debutante, Alec’s sister, based on Zelda Sayre, requires lip-to-lip contact with the performer playing Amory. (A3-D#5) (This track also plays the minor character MARYLYN DE WITT)


ELEANOR SAVAGE: An eccentric and depressed intellectual young woman. (A3-D#5) (This track also plays the minor characters MYRA ST. CLAIR & DAMSEL)


BURNE HOLIDAY: A well-liked and free-thinking college student. (G#2-E4) (This track also plays the minor characters HOWARD GILLESPIE & MR. SAVAGE)
