Domenica Feraud's new play someone spectacular, which officially
opened its world premiere engagement at the Romulus Linney Courtyard
Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center July 31, has extended its limited run.
The production, which began previews July 17, will now continue through September 7.
Directed by Tatiana Pandiani, the play, which is not a Signature production, features Gamze Ceylan (Ben Is Back) as Evelyn, Alison Cimmet (She Loves Me) as Nelle, Delia Cunningham (Elementary) as Jude, Shakur Tolliver as Julian, Ana Cruz Kayne (Barbie) as Lily, and Damian Young (The Comeback) as Thom. Understudies are Nicholas Delany, Domenica Feraud, and Rebecca Hirota.
Someone spectacular follows six recently bereaved strangers who gather for group therapy weekly. When their grief counselor is inexplicably MIA, the group’s session quickly goes off the rails, offering an open-ended meditation on loss.
“My mother, Nathalie Feraud-Salame, was the love of my life. When she passed away suddenly two years ago, I thought living without her might kill me. Writing someone spectacular is how I survived,” playwright Feraud, who also penned Rinse, Repeat, said in an earlier statement. “I am honored to bring this play to life with such an incredible team, especially my director, Tatiana Pandiani. someone spectacular is a love letter to my mom, as well as for anyone who knows what it is to have loved and lost.”
The production also has scenic design by Tony nominee dots, costume design by Siena Zoë Allen, lighting design by Drama Desk nominee Oona Curley, sound design by Tony nominee Mikaal Sulaiman, casting by Conrad Woolfe and Leigh Ann Smith, and general management by Cheryl Dennis Productions.
The production stage manager is Yetti Steinman, the assistant stage
manager is Madison Lane, and the production manager is Libby J'Vera.
Someone spectacular is produced by B3-A12/Domenica Feraud, Paige Evans, and Margaret Leigh.
