According to Deadline Hollywood, the program, The Situation Project, has "pledged funds to pay for five years' worth of arts programming through commitments from Jujamcyn Theaters and the Nederlander Organization along with other producers, creative, entrepreneurs, community activists and Situation Interactive, an online marketing specialist." Damian Bazadona, the founder and president of Situation Interactive, spearheaded the effort.

School of Rock—The Musical, which will arrive on Broadway this fall, is currently enjoying a brief residency at the Gramercy Theatre in New York, to polish its script and score before the high-tech aspects of the show are added. The cast offered a sneak peek for the media the morning of June 11.
The program is targeted to "students in arts-deficient New York City public middle schools that have demonstrated a commitment to academic performance despite limited access to the city's vast cultural resources."
