Winners of the Casting Society's 40th Annual Artios Awards—honoring casting professionals in film, television, and theatre—were named February 12 in three simultaneous ceremonies at New York City's Edison Ballroom, Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton Hotel, and London's White City House.
Theatrical categories went to Stereophonic for Broadway Comedy or Drama (Alaine Alldaffer and Taylor Williams), The Outsiders for Broadway Musical (Tara Rubin and Xavier Rubiano), Oh, Mary! for New York Theater Comedy or Drama (Henry Russell Bergstein), Here We Are for New York Theatre Musical (Bernard Telsey, Adam Caldwell, and associate casting director Geoff Josselson), Reefer Madness The Musical for Los Angeles Theatre (Michael Donovan, Richie Ferris), A Strange Loop for Regional Theatre (Destine Lilly), MJ The Musical for Theatre Tours (Lindsay Levine and Rachel Hoffman), and West Side Story at Lyric Opera of Chicago for Special Theatrical Performance (Merri Sugarman, and location casting director Becca McCracken).
This year's film categories also represented some works with ties to musical theatre, with Wicked taking Big Budget Feature Comedy (Bernard Telsey, Tiffany Little Canfield, associate casting director Ryan Bernard Tymensky, and location casting director Tamsyn Manson) and Emilia Pérez winning International Feature (Carla Hool and associate casting director Susan Putnam).
The New York ceremony, hosted by Jordan Carlos, featured presenters Michael Cyril Creighton (Only Murders in the Building), Dagmara Domińczyk (Succession), Noma Dumezweni (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Ray Fisher (The Piano Lesson), John Magaro (The Agency), Jinkx Monsoon (Little Shop of Horrors), Ethan Slater (Wicked), and Patrick Wilson (Insidious).
The L.A. ceremony, hosted by Janelle James, featured presenters Marissa Bode (Wicked), Garcelle Beauvais (Survival of the Thickest, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Joel Kim Booster (Loot), Sasha Colby (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Ethan Herisse (Nickel Boys), Frankie Grande (Henry Danger: The Movie), Nava Mau (Baby Reindeer), Wendi McLendon-Covey (St. Denis Medical), Parvati Shallow (Deal or No Deal Island), and Brandon Wilson (Nickel Boys).
Susan Wokoma (Cheaters) hosted the London ceremony, where film producer Judy Craymer presented casting director David Grindrod with the Creative Collaboration Award. Also in London, filmmaker Luca Guadagnino introduced Juliette Ménager to recieve The Capelier-Shaw Award for Excellence in Casting.
The recipients of the Associate Casting Director/Casting Producer Spotlight Award were Amanda Ogen in Los Angeles and Josy Rodriguez in New York.
First held in 1985, the Artios Awards honor casting professionals in more than 20 different categories encompassing film, television, and theatre, along with special honorees chosen for their contributions to the craft. Nominees and winners are selected by members of Casting Society.
