The London revival of Fiddler on the Roof, which officially reopened at the West End’s reconfigured Playhouse Theatre March 27 following a limited run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, has extended its run. The production, which had been scheduled to run through June 15, is now booking to September 28.
Directed by Trevor Nunn and starring Andy Nyman as Tevye and four-time Tony nominee Judy Kuhn as Golda, the production also features Nicola Brown as Chava, Harriet Bunton as Hodel, Dermot Canavan as Lazar Wolf, Stewart Clarke as Perchik, Joshua Gannon as Motel, Matthew Hawksley as Fyedka, Louise Gold as Yente, and Molly Osborne as Tzeitel.
The ensemble features Miles Barrow, Sofia Bennett, Philip Bertioli, Lottie Casserley, Elena Cervesi, Lia Cohen, Talia Etherington, Shoshana Ezequiel, Isabella Foat, Fenton Gray, James Hameed, Adam Linstead, Adam Margilewski, Robert Maskell, Benny Maslov, Robyn McIntyre, Gaynor Miles, Ellie Mullane, Tania Newton, Craig Pinder, Valentina Theodoulou, and Ed Wade.
The production also has choreography by Matt Cole, set design by Robert Jones, costume design by Jonathan Lipman, hair and makeup design by Richard Mawbey, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, sound design by Gregory Clarke, musical supervision and direction by Paul Bogaev, and orchestrations by Jason Carr.
Fiddler on the Roof, the story of Tevye the milkman, his wife, and five daughters, features music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein. The musicalwas last seen in London in May 2007 at the Savoy Theatre with Henry Goodman as Tevye.
An Off-Broadway production of the classic musical, performed in Yiddish, currently plays Stage 42.
The musical, a reinvention of Tim Burton’s cult classic film Edward Scissorhands, uses the pop music of Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Alanis Morissette, and more.
