The West End transfer of Girl From the North Country, the new musical from Conor McPherson and Bob Dylan, begins performances December 29 at the Noël Coward Theatre. The London production kicks off following a hit world-premiere run at the Old Vic earlier this fall.
The musical, written and directed by McPherson with music and lyrics by Dylan, is set in the singer’s hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, in 1934. Drawing on Dylan’s iconic songbook, the story brings to life the tales of a local community on the brink of change.
The West End engagement of Girl From the North Country will officially open January 11, 2018, and is scheduled to play through March 31.
Returning to the show from the world premiere are Sheila Atim as Marianne, Bronagh Gallagher as Mrs. Burke, Shirley Henderson as Elizabeth, Ciarán Hinds as Nick, Claudia Jolly as Katherine, Arinzé Kene as Joe Scott, Debbie Kurup as Mrs. Neilsen, Sam Reid as Gene Laine, and Jack Shalloo as Elias.
They are joined by new cast members David Ganly as Mr. Burke, Adam James as Dr. Walker, Karl Johnson as Mr. Perry, and Tim McMullan as Reverend Walker, as well as ensemble members Hannah Azuonye, Mary Doherty, and Emmanuel Kojo.
