Wayne Brady, currently playing Harold Zidler in Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical, will star in two concert performances of To Sir, With Love—A New Musical at London's Gillian Lynne Theatre November 24.
Stage and screen star Brady, who will play Rick Braithwaite, will be joined by Grammy nominee Lulu, who had a hit with the title song from the 1967 Sidney Poitier film of the same name. Casting is by Debbie O'Brien.
This newly reimagined stage adaptation of E.R. Braithwaite's memoir features music and lyrics by John Farrar and Kara DioGuardi, with direction by Sheldon Epps. In addition to the original score, the production also features the aforementioned Lulu hit "To Sir, With Love,” which was penned by Mark London and Don Black.
To Sir, With Love follows Cambridge-educated engineer and former RAF fighter pilot Rick Braithwaite, who is battling societal
prejudices at every turn. He engages his
students not as troublesome youths, but as emerging adults who must soon
navigate a world where they'll stand or fall on their own merits.
Brady, who starred in invitation-only To Sir, With Love concerts in Burbank, California, in 2024, has also been seen on Broadway as The Wiz in The Wiz, Billy Flynn in Chicago, and Lola in Kinky Boots. His television credits include Whose Line is it Anyway?, Let's Make a Deal, How I Met Your Mother, Black Lightning, The Good Fight, and American Gigolo. He also competed on Dancing With the Stars and won the second season of The Masked Singer.
To Sir, With Love also features musical arrangements by Eve Nelson, musical supervision and orchestrations by Joseph Joubert, dramaturgy by Shereen Jasmin Phillips, and choreography by Edgar Godineaux.
Lythgoe Productions and Darren Bell produce with Alex Day, Willette and Manny Klausner, Jonathan and Jennifer Yaek, and Rebecca Bahling-Lythgoe.
To Sir, With Love has been developed through the Ogunquit Playhouse New Works Program.
