Liza Minnelli still has to be reminded of her status as a legend in the hearts of many. The star, known for her work across a long list of Broadway, film, TV, and music projects, sat down with her friend, singer and pianist Michael Feinstein, to chat with CBS Sunday Morning. Check out the interview above, including a few snippets of “Embraceable You” and “My Own Best Friend,” along with looking back on her career and sharing thoughts on her parents, Judy Garland and Vincent Minnelli.

“I remember my first gig was in a show called My Best Foot Forward, Off-Broadway, and I mean Off-Broadway,” says Minnelli. “I just knew then that from the minute I walked on stage I wasn’t me. I was the person that I knew so much about because I had thought so much about her.”

That famed stage persona, full of zest and va-va-voom, carried her career to stratospheric heights in the ‘60s. Minnelli won her first Tony Award in 1965 as a teenager for her work in Flora the Red Menace. In 1972, she won an Oscar for Cabaret and an Emmy for Liza With a Z. She reached EGOT status when she received a non-competitive Grammy in 1990.

Minnelli, while not performing or recording as much these days, is still hard at work. She’s serving as executive producer on Feinstein’s upcoming album Gershwin Country and producing the artist’s tour celebrating Garland’s 100th birthday.
