On April 29, The Today Show kicked off the Best of Broadway Week with a performance by the leading quintet from Broadway’s new Ain’t Too Proud—The Life and Times of the Temptations.
Derrick Baskins stars as Otis Williams alongside Jeremy Pope as Eddie Kendricks, Ephraim Sykes as David Ruffin, James Harkness as Paul Williams, and Jawan M. Jackson as Melvin Franklin in the new bio-musical currently playing Broadway’s Imperial Theatre.

As Baskins explained, the real Otis Williams—the only living member of the original Temptations—gave the men the advice to “be grateful for the moments to stay grounded to make sure this friendship this camaraderie that we have that it stays solid that it stay in tact because we are most successful together.”

The group performed “The Way You Do The Things You Do” and “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” on the Today Show Plaza (see above). They returned in the fourth hour to sing the famous “My Girl” (see below).
