On July 26 America finally witnessed the first nomination of a female presidential candidate of a major political party at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, PA. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now the official Democratic nominee.
In support of Clinton, producer-director-actress Elizabeth Banks, Bruce Cohen and Mike Thompkins produced a music video of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.” The a cappella arrangement—a lá Banks’ Pitch Perfect—features stars including notable Broadway voices. Among the cameos are Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth, Tony winner Alan Cumming, Renee Fleming, Tony nominee Jane Fonda, T.R. Knight, Tony winner Idina Menzel, Lilly Award winner Kathy Najimy, Tony winner Mary-Louise Parker, Little Shop's Ellen Greene, Outer Critics Circle nominee Ben Platt (star of the the Broadway-bound Dear Evan Hansen) and Tony winner Billy Porter.
This video marks another in a line of Broadway icons lending their voice to political and social support of people in the national media.
