The 2016 Summit will be held in four sessions. The first session will be held Jan. 16-18. The second will be held Feb. 13-15. The third will be held April 2-4. The fourth session, which corresponds with the Broadway Teachers Workshop, will be held July 11-13.
The Broadway Student Summit connects theatre students with the Broadway community through a series of workshops, master classes and an optional mock audition with a casting director.
The program is mainly designed for high school students, although "mature middle school students who are serious minded and have a sincere interest in theatre" are also welcome. Students are able to attend individually with permission from a parent of guardian or as part of a group.
The program includes three days of classes, a ticket to a Broadway musical, a post show discussion with cast members and an optional private feedback session with a Broadway casting director. Every student will work directly with Broadway’s best and brightest performers, choreographers and musical directors.
Past teaching artists include Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies), Kate Shindle (Legally Blonde, Jekyll and Hyde), Titus Burgess (Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"), Lindsay Mendez (Wicked, Dogfight) and more.
