The slate was announced Jan. 5 by Bernard Havard, the producing artistic director.

The theatre's 202nd season — the 28th season as a resident not-for-profit — will open with Kander and Ebb's murder-mystery musical comedy Curtains (Sept. 7–Oct. 24), which has a book and additional lyrics by Rupert Holmes. In it, a police detective who loves musicals tries to solve a backstage murder mystery.

Walnut Street Theatre, the State Theatre of Pennsylvania, boasts over 56,000 subscribers. It is the most popular theatre company in Philadelphia, but also the most subscribed theatre company in the world.

The season's dates are:

Irving Berlin's White Christmas, inspired by the film musical of the same name, Nov. 9, 2010-Jan. 9, 2011. Peter Shaffer's Amadeus, the fictionalized tale of musical rivalry between genius Mozart and mediocre Salieri, Jan. 18–March 6, 2011.

The 39 Steps, a four-actor, quick-change spoof of the Alfred Hitchcock film caper, March 15-May 1, 2011.

Miss Saigon, the pop musical inspired by Madama Butterfly but set in the time of the Vietnam War, with songs by Boublil and Schonberg, May 17–July 17, 2011.
