Gareth Snook (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, My Fair Lady) will play Willy Wonka in the upcoming U.K. and Ireland tour of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory—The Musical, which will kick off November 18–January 28, 2023, at Leeds Playhouse.
The tour of the London and Broadway musical will officially open February 9, 2023, at Milton Keynes Theatre. For the current touring itinerary, click here. Additional casting will be announced.
Based on the novel by Roald Dahl and the Warner Bros. film, Charlie and Chocolate Factory—The Musical has a book by David Greig, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. The production is directed by James Brining and designed by Simon Higlett.
After its London premiere, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opened at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in April 2017, playing 305 performances before closing January 14, 2018.
The Leeds Playhouse production is produced by Neal Street Productions and Playful Productions.
