Off-Broadway News Tony Winner LaChanze to Lead The Flea Theater's 2nd Annual House Party

The event will celebrate the new mission behind the Off-Broadway theatre company.

The Flea Theater has announced their second annual house party, Blooming: A Flea Shindiggity, which will be held September 29 at 7:30 PM at The Flea.

The celebration will present the new vision for the Off-Broadway company, which centers experimental art created by Black, Brown, and queer artists. The program will be supported by Tony winner LaChanze, and attendees will enjoy multidisciplinary art experiences from Jack Fuller, Mur, Paris L’Hommie, Chanon Judson, James Scruggs, Zora Howard, O’Neil Scott, Nickolas Vaughn, Yonatan Gebeyehu, Amara Granderson, and Nona Hendryx. The party will feature the music of DJ Jon Ali, an open bar, and classic Jamaican cuisine from Miss Lily’s, along with silent and live auction and dancing.

“I am really excited to join a team that is intentionally working to create a space for Black, Brown, and queer creatives to be safe, to create and to share with the world authentically and unfiltered,” said interim executive director Renee K. Smith. “This work allows for those who have been marginalized or othered to feel at home in a central space. The Flea is that space and a key resource for these artists. It is our goal to transform the theatre into a multidisciplinary arts hub where the community can come and share, grow, and be together.”
