OPENING→ Joely Richardson stars as Emily Dickinson in the New York return of William Luce's one-woman show, The Belle of Amherst. The original 1976 Broadway production earned Julie Harris a Tony in the role of the famously reclusive poet. PREVIEWS→ Glenn Close returns to Broadway after a two-decade absence in the revival of Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance. Close plays Agnes, a well-to-do woman keeping the "delicate balance" of her unusual household, which includes her husband (John Lithgow), alcoholic sister (Lindsay Duncan), serial divorcee daughter (Martha Plimpton) and paranoid friends (Bob Balaban and Clare Higgins). OPENING→ Ayad Akhtar's 2013 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Disgraced brings the dinner party from hell to Broadway. Hari Dhillon and Gretchen Mol play Amir and Emily, a mixed-race couple that invites their friends, another mixed-race couple (played by Karen Pittman and "How I Met Your Mother" star Josh Radnor) to dinner. WATCH→ The Lady goes legit! Lady Gaga teams up with Tony Bennett for a PBS "Great Performances" concert in celebration of the new album "Cheek to Cheek." GO→ The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) kicks off its 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. The two-day fest promises showcases from emerging theatre talent.
