The Look Book: The Most Memorable Outfits From the Red Carpet of Spamalot

Sure, Spamalot may be a comedy, but the outfits at the show's opening night celebration on Broadway were no laughing matter. On the red carpet, the cast and attendees delivered drama, magic, and personality.

With custom chainmail and plenty of early-winter velvet, the star-studded night was a glimmering display of Broadway glamour—and some knights in shining armor (literally). See our favorite looks below.

Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer

Cast member Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer brought all the elegance of The Lady of the Lake in this sculptural Toni Maticevski gown. The coral tones give a fittingly aquatic vibe, and the silky, pillowy draping has Kritzer swimming in elegance. She ties it all together with the ultimate accessory for any diva: heels by Christian Dior. As Kritzer told Playbill on the red carpet: "I was going back and forth about what to wear. And I saw this dress and I was like, I must, I must, I must, I must wear this...I went all out for this. If you're gonna do it, you got to do it here." And we safely say, she did it!

James Monroe Iglehart

James Monroe Iglehart is not just King Arthur in the show, he was also the king of the red carpet, standing out from the crowd in head-to-toe baby blue (which was a dead match for the Spamalot poster). But what kept the suit from going too Easter bunny was the impeccable fit, and the black shirt, which provided a much-needed pop of contrast. Hail to the king!

Gabriella Enriquez

Cast member Gabriella Enriquez was absolutely show-stopping in her velvet Reformation dress (purchased at Graceland New York), which was embellished with custom chainmail from Etsy (bedazzled and fitted by Megan Carpenter). She wore Abound shoes. Both the dress and the chainmail fit her perfectly, making us wonder why there aren't any lady knights in Camelot—there should be!

Michael Urie

Michael Urie may play the not-so-brave Sir Robin in Spamalot but his red carpet outfit was completely bold. For his first time opening a Broadway musical, Urie went for a season-appropriate green velvet suit from Jack Victor and shoes from Jean Baptiste Rautuieau. The lace undershirt from Asos provided a little mischief and fun.

Josh Rhodes

Spamalot director Josh Rhodes has absolutely mastered subtle stylishness, with the calm navy blue of his suit (designed by Emmy Award-winning costume designer Brian Hemesath) being elevated by the embossed paisley print—but that's not all! The cerulean inner lining of the jacket features a print of golden holy grails for a clever tribute to Spamalot.

Darrell T. Joe

Ensemble member Darrell T. Joe didn't shy away from the medieval theme, looking marvelous in a hand-cut knight's top woven from embossed alligator and leather materials with a matching leather belt—all designed custom by Jared Cummings. He's certainly earned a VIP spot at the Round Table!

Tyler Roberts

Spamalot ensemble member Tyler Roberts brought an original (and fall-weather) spin to a classic white suit, which was decorated with orange embroidery on the lapels, pockets, and on the seam of his pants. Paired with a matching orange turtleneck, Roberts proved you truly can wear white after Labor Day.

BONUS: Ariana Grande

Wicked film star Ariana Grande made an appearance at Spamalot (her boyfriend Ethan Slater plays a variety of roles in the show). Grande posted about her experience at the show and the after party on Instagram. She also shared her look for the evening: a strapless velvet black dress from Loewe (which matched Slater's black suit). Paired with black elbow-length gloves, pearl earrings, and red lipstick, Grande channeled old-school Hollywood glamour for this old-school Broadway musical.
