News "The Big Time": The Will Rogers Follies Begins Atlanta Run Sept. 4 Atlanta Lyric Theatre production of The Will Rogers Follies, starring Alan Kilpatrick in the title role, begins performances Sept. 4.

Brandt Blocker directs and musical directs the Tony-winning musical that featurees music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Adolph Green and Betty Comden, and a book by Peter Stone. Performances continue through Sept. 20 at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre.

Suzi Bass Award winner Kilpatrick leads a cast including Christy Baggett as Betty Blake, Natalie Barrow as Ziegfeld's Favorite and Chris McDaniel as Clem Rogers. The cast also features Becky Simmons, Dixie Light, Priscilla Curtis, Megan Reardon, Sims Lamason, Jennifer Smiles, Katie Borden, Brett Parker, Brad Southards, Jeremy Wood and Josh Donahue.

Cindy Mora choreographs the vaudeville-inspired production with scenic design by Drew Monahan, lighting design by Bradley Bergeron and costumes provided by Kansas City Costume.

Originally staged by Tommy Tune, The Will Rogers Follies opened at the Palace Theatre May 1, 1991. The production earned Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Direction, Best Choreography as well as Best Lighting and Best Costumes. Songs in the musical include "Will-a-Mania," "Give a Man Enough Rope," "My Unknown Someone," "The Big Time," "My Big Mistake," "Favorite Son," "No Man Left for Me" and "Never Met a Man I Didn't Like."
