Sick with cancer and emphysema, actor Brian Keith shot himself June 24 in his Los Angeles home. According to the NY Daily News, the 75-year-old actor died of the self-inflicted wound and was discovered by family members. Best known for playing the bachelor father of TV's "Family Affair," Keith made his Broadway debut in 1948's Mister Roberts -- two years after making his stage debut in 1946's Heyday in New Haven.
