The 8 PM concert celebrates the premiere of the Skivvies music video for their new single "Harbody Howdown." The line-up also features Next to Normal Tony winner Ripley, as well as Wesley Taylor, Adam Kantor and Joseph Morales.
Comprising actor-musicians Lauren Molina (Sweeney Todd, Marry Me a Little) and Nick Cearley (All Shook Up), the Skivvies are known for their acoustic performances of pop songs, wearing nothing but their underwear. The duo and their guests play instruments ranging from the cello, ukulele, guitar and glockenspiel to the melodica.
The music video for "Hardbody Hoedown" was directed by "Running With Scissors" author Augusten Burroughs.
"Hardbody Hoedown" is described as a bluegrass-tinged parody mega-medley of hip-hop songs about body parts. "The mashups we’ve been doing at our live shows naturally led us to our parody single, 'Hardbody Hoedown,' where we give the filthiest rap the prettiest twang," Cearley said in a statement.
Tickets are priced $25, and are available by visiting highlineballroom.com/show/2013/01/28/the-skivvies.
